ISC Elected the New Board and Mr. Wu Hequan as the New President

Internet Society of China (ISC) held the 4th Member’s Congress and the 1st Session of the 4th Board Meeting in Beijing on July 5, 2013.
The democratic election on this meeting elected Mr. Wu Hequan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, to be the new President of ISC, and new selected 25 delegations to be Vice President, including Mao Wei, President of KNET, Zhou Hongyi, Chairman of Qihoo 360, Yu Yongfu, CEO of UCWeb, Huang Xiangyang, Director of CNNIC, Cao Shumin, President of China Academy of Telecommunication Research of MIIT, etc., and brought 71 delegations to be Executive Vice President, including Wang Xiaochuan, CEO of Sogou.com, Liu Chengyan, CEO of ChinaNetCenter.com, Sun Weimin, Vice President of suning.com, etc..
Nominated by the new President, Academician Wu Hequan, and elected by the Board, Lu Wei was selected as the new Secretary-General of ISC.
Academician Hu Qiheng served as the first President of ISC, and held the post of three terms. During her term of service over the past 13 years, she led ISC to promote the communication and exchanges in China’s Internet industry, advocated to establish an industry environment that with the aim of developing, self-discipline, balance and involving all. Meanwhile, she was dedicated to push China Internet industry involving the IDN project, the global Internet governance and development ecological system, and some other international affairs. She had made outstanding contributions to the development of China Internet. To express its heartfelt thanks and highest respect, the Board of ISC unanimously adopted to award Academician Hu Qiheng “Honorary Member of the ISC”.
Wu Hequan, the new president of ISC, addressed Acadamician Hu Qiheng and the Board with sincere thanks for their trust and support. He said he would earnestly perform his duties to carry forward the business of ISC, to make ISC to be a trustworthy and recognized industry organization for members and industry.
Peng Bo, Vice Minister of State Council Information Office, Zhang Feng, Chief Engineer of MIIT, attended the meeting and delivered important speeches.
Under the leadership of the new Board, ISC would give full play to the positive role of professional organization to promote the innovation of social management. Kept based on capacity-building by setting up service platform and improving service levels, so as to make ISC to meet the need of industry development, conform to the industry trend, and perform as a professional society that was widely representative and influential and full of cohesive force.
